2023 Running Guide Pt. 2

Following on from our previous blog post on exciting local running events in 2023, we have put together a list of local running services who are experts in their field to guide you, helpful tips, cool running accessories and a discount to help you to be the best you can be with your running endeavours this year!

SHOES

Who doesn’t love a new pair of colourful running shoes to get your motivation levels going? With so many shoes on the market and so many innovative technologies, it can be overwhelming if left to our own devices to know which to choose. Unfortunately, the most aesthetic, colourful and exciting looking shoes may not always be best suited for our body and running style. To be fitted for running shoes appropriately, head down to see the guys at The Running Company on Duporth Avenue in Maroochydore. They will do a gait analysis running assessment and recommend the most appropriate shoes for you to try before purchasing. Running shoes can play a major role in contributing to injury, and even preventing injury if fitted correctly to your body and biomechanics.

NUTRITION

If you are training for longer distance runs, particularly events such as a marathon, 50 or 100km ultra events, be sure to gain the expertise of a qualified nutritionist or dietician to follow a nutritional program specific for your body and running goal. Tara Leanne is an excellent nutritionist with a wealth of experience guiding athletes about nutrition and hydration plans for their sport. If you mention us and this article when you book your appointment with Tara you’ll receive 10% off your consult and meal plan! A great incentive to get on track with expert help and assistance to fuel your training adequately. Remember, you can’t outrun a bad diet so nutrition is key.

For a sports drink to enhance endurance, recovery and muscle performance for training, check out the range at Infinit Nutrition. They work on matching the athlete’s unique nutritional profile through customising the blend to each individual. Infinit Nutrition are major sponsors of The Sunshine Coast Marathon and a personal preference for some of the Physiotherapists on our team as they taste delicious and don’t leave you feeling queasy with the typical runner’s stomach problems like some sports drinks can.

Courtney Geraghty is an accomplished sprint runner and remedial masseuse at Peak Perf4mance Sports Massage who works at Out of the Box Performance in Marcoola. She works with runners of all abilities and helps keep people on track and in alignment whilst pounding the pavement training for their event.
